I adopted a 4-year-old Lab who had zero problems with off-leash hiking in the winter. But once the weather warmed up and he got a taste for chasing squirrels and rabbits into the woods, I realized it was time to resort to the e-collar. Tom Davis, in his videos, recommends starting at level 4 with a boost of 10. I suggest starting at 1 with a boost of 4/5 to test your dog's sensitivity. We landed on a baseline of 2 with +4 for the boost. Within 30 minutes of conditioning him using the 'come' command, he knew that he had to come back regardless of how interesting the neighbor's dog or the rustling in the bushes was. I've only used it for one day and have experienced 100% with no negative effects other than the discomfort I caused him when figuring out the settings. I highly recommend this for people with obedient dogs that struggle with strong prey drive.

I absolutely love this Collar! The colors are beautiful and I love the easy bungee. It makes it so easy to get on and off. The features are amazing! Ever since I started watching Tom Davis's videos on how to safely train my dog using the e collar I can finally take our dog off leash outside without her bolting. Thank you Tom and thank you Dogtra!

I got two of these, one for each of my dogs after watching Tom's videos. We can now after 3 years finally take out big dog out off leash. She would never recall off leash. Now after having watched all his courses and having worked on more obedience we have more fun than ever. My wife cried when we were finally able to take her on a walk without worrying she would run off and get hit by a car. Having this peace of mind and knowing she's safe and not being hurt from such a long distance away is amazing. I'm finally getting to play fetch with my dog. Thank you Tom and thank you Dogtra! I love the beautiful colors and the easy bungee cords. It's easy to slip on and off for in the house and charging.

I’ve had this unit for a couple years now, and it’s almost perfect. It needs the “hands free” training option to make it the perfect total package! The bungee collar is fantastic; easy on and easy off. We mostly use the vibration mode and that works flawlessly every time! My dogs respond very well to the vibration mode and that’s this units super power. PLEASE add hands free!

We have had our Tom Davis 280c for about 2 years now and it's hands down the best E-collar we have purchased, and we have purchased a number of other brand collars and none of them were as comfortable or easy to use or worked so well and precise as the Tom Davis 280c. I mean everything is high quality and built super tough all the way down to the battery in the collar and the handset both still had a charge just like the day we bought it. It lasts for forever with fairly heavy use as we are outside people so the collars are always on our dogs when we are outside. We are ordering the updated version for our soon to be new puppy and we look forward to having a third 280c unit in our line up. Thank you to both Tom Davis and Dogtra for collaborating and making an amazing product/tool for us to use.

This collar is amazing. They’ve thought of everything, from an easy on bungee to a charger that charges both collar and remote at the same time. My dog trainer recommended this one and it has been a game changer for my dog. The controls, regulated settings, and quick response mean I can train her accurately and humanely.

We are on a mountain in NC with plenty of room to roam. Our rescue terrier was taking way too much advantage of this fact so before we fenced in an area we decided to try this. It only took one day of training and this dog took to it immediately. She happily returns to the vibration so I've only used the shock mode a couple of times when I couldn't see or hear her at all. Set at 13 as anything lower did not seem to register with her at all. We are so pleased to have found a device that works so well and keeps us worry free. I attached silver charms and some beads to the bungi collar and she is really styling now ! Thank you Tom Davis for this amazing product

I really do love this collar and it's function! Game changer for obedience work. However: I wish there was a hands free option. A hands free button for each button on the remote. That could truly allow for amazing marker and correction work in training! The other thing: the color.... It's a little much lol if I could get this in black or gray. I'd be ecstatic! I've had my TomDavis 280c for about 8 months now and its honestly been one of the best things I could've gotten for my dogs. I love how waterproof it is as in Florida you're always somehow getting wet and when we go to the beach and my shepherd will keep on swimming if I don't call him back. Also love the Boost as its easy to up your stim when you need it since for me turning the dial takes longer than pushing a button, especially in the few occurrences that he decides to take after a bird, honestly wish other dogtra collar had that option. Also the durability of the e-collar and the remote have surprised me as I've accidentally dropped them on tile and pavement a few times and nothing has cracked or broken. Honestly for me I've had no downsides to this collar and it has improved our life so much.

I purchased this collar primarily to work on off-leash recall with my newish rescue dog. Dogtra and Tom Davis have great resources for people to learn e-collar conditioning and I highly recommend finding one you like before ever putting the collar on the dog (blog/video/podcast formats are all available!). We've been using it for about a month or 2 now, and the training is going great. I'm very happy with the TD 280C, my dog is conditioned on about a level 4 or 5, and outside with higher distraction a 9 or 10 seems appropriate to get his attention without overstimulating him. The boost does come in handy if he takes off after something more exciting that I am. I have never used the HPP "vibrate" function and am saving that for an emergency situation - hopeful I never need to use it but I feel better knowing it's in the toolbag. The collar is on my dog all evening after I get home from work, and all weekend - I charge it 1-2 times a week and so far it holds a charge well and recharges quickly, as advertised. Its been in the water and held up great. The bungee does tend to work itself loose over time and I check it often - its very easy to adjust on the fly, just hold the plastic piece and tug the bungee strap to re-tighten. It came fully assembled but with 2 loose elastic ends, which the dog promptly chewed off, so be sure to tie a knot if yours doesn't come that way! The only thing I would recommend as an improvement is to offer this version in a 2-dog system - I had a bad experience with E-collars 15 or 20 years ago and looked into this sort of as a last resort when positive reinforcement treat training and a long line weren't enough to do the trick for the reliable recall, but the technology and learning resources have come so far since then and I wish I could add a collar for my other dog!

I have a 7 month old GSP who is very hyper. With this e collar it’s like I have a completely different dog after just 5 minutes. The only downside is the vibrate mode is very intense which terrifies my dog causing him to act timid at times, but he does come right to me and lays down when using the vibrate for correction. I used a verbal marker when correcting with vibration and now I very rarely have to use the vibration, he hears my marker when acting out and follows command. My dog is so well behaved when the collar is on that I rarely even have to use any form of correction. Just make sure you correctly introduce the stimulation. I watched Tom’s e collar videos and they were very helpful. My dog does not mind the nick feature at all once properly set. I am 100% happy with my decision to try this product.

I had to specially maneuver a little to get this sent to Canada when it first came out but it was very worth it. The boost is a great addition and it’s nice to have a different looking E-collar that also benefits someone that we respect and are happy to give money to. We already had a dogtra collar but our 2nd puppy was old enough to start working with one when this came out so it was great. She’s a German shepherd with a thick furry neck so we need longer prongs for sure but it’s a great collar.

Pretty simple to use. Would definitely recommend doing research,, To insure you’re using it properly. I have a 2 year old gsd and this collar helps me to communicate with her when I let her off leash. Would highly recommend this product if you care about your pups and want to keep them as safe as possible. Also Love the colors too.
